Russ Roberts on Trade

Finally (thanks to some kind of antibiotics-resistant pneumonia strain) got some spare time to catch up on my backlog of unprocessed podcasts. Here's Russ Roberts solo, ruminating on Ricardo and the emergence of trade networks. The content is totally basic Economics 101 level, but Russ is a nice and sharp guy, and so a pleasure to listen to (although he has apparently forgotten that Nepal is a landlocked country).

The root issue Russ is trying to address is: If you are so smart, why are you so poor?

The punchline, which I like so much, is: Self-sufficiency is the road to poverty.
