Friday's issue of St.Pete Times runs a story on the phenomenon of вытрезвитель, which it calls, successively, vytrezvitel, sobering-up station, and drunk tank. The story itself is not particularly sensational, yet it contains one of those sentences which I so much love to pull out of their context and savor indefinitely.
