Moscow, February 18, CrazyMosNews — Two con artists in the Russian town of Pyatigorsk went door-to-door, masquerading as social workers helping seniors exchange "outdated" Russian ruble currency for "new" bills with portraits of Michael Jackson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and other entertainers — as reported by Interfax. The counterfeit bills looked similar to US dollar bills (the dollar and the euro are widely used in Russia, as Russians prefer not to rely on the unstable ruble), which fooled two women in their 80s. One woman gave up 8000 rubles (approx. $280) in exchange for "new" currency, and the other "exchanged" 1000 rubles (approx. $35). Local police is on the lookout for the counterfeiters.
